Exploring in and around Candidasa

Because of it’s location on the coast and neighboring the mountains, activities such as hiking, snorkeling, diving, visiting local villages and exploring nearby areas are just some of the activities that can be added to your retreat.

Some of the best diving and snorkeling spots in Bali are within the area of Candidasa. You can organize a ride on a traditional fishing boat, either for sightseeing or picnic on a beach where you can enjoy the seclusion.

Just an hour away is Amed and Tulamben, which are well known spots for diving and snorkeling.

The drive between Candidasa and Amed along the coast, are one the most picturesque drives that one can experience in Bali.

 

Boat Ride & Day at the Beach

This excursion is available to sun worshipers and mermaids staying in one of our selected properties on the east coast. Departure will take place in the morning and participants will leave from the beach.  Participants will then embark on a colorful traditional fishing boat known as a jukung, and ride along the coastal waters that lead to White beach with their local captain.

Lounge chairs and umbrellas will be available for guests. Lunch will be served at one of the local warungs at the beach.

Balinese Water Purification Ceremony

This special experience is available for groups that are staying in the eastern part of Bali. It’s a unique experience for spiritual retreats that want to embody the Hindu traditions.

The core of this rituals is to become “one” with the the soul that resides within inside us.

The location we have chosen for this experience is rich in beauty and culture.

For this experience, a sarong will be provided so you may attend the ceremony in the traditional Balinese Ceremony clothing.

SUNRISE TREK TO THE TEMPLE

This is a very special tour and you will need to get to bed early the evening before. Departure is from the hotel is around 4:30 am and you will then travel to the base of hill.

From here you will climb up to the temple using flashlights. Please wear comfortable sports shoes, a T-shirt, take a jacket, long trousers and a hat.

The excursions include Transportation, Guide Fee, offerings to be made & water. This activity lasts approximately 4 hours.

Bamboo Raw Chocolate and Soap Factory

Take a tour of this coastal factory built in bamboo, and that produces treats combined with raw chocolate. A tasting may be coordinated for groups that desire to learn about the ingredients for a healthier chocolate.

They also produce organic coconut palm syrup which is taken 100% from the nectar of the local coconut trees and bottled on site.

A demonstration on how to prepare soaps using natural ingredients may also be coordinated for groups. Items may be purchased on site and make great gifts to take home.  Make sure to take a ride with the breeze on the swing that is found amongst the coconut trees.

Visiting the Bali Aga Village of Tenganan

This traditional village can be found 3 km inwards west from Candi Dasa on the slopes of surrounding mountains, rice fields and forest.

With a population of 300 villagers it is a great experience to see how a very traditional Balinese village lives.

You will be invited to visit the homes of these villagers where you can witness and purchase some of the handicrafts produced within their communal walls such as the ‘ikat weaving’.

Trekking around Candi Dasa

You may choose from 3 different wonderful Treks through the magnificent region surrounding Gunung Agung.

Cross the river, walk in the jungle, pass through salak (a fruit) and coffee plantations, admire hidden temples, enjoy the lush green rice fields and visit a traditional Balinese village.

Your guide will be pleased to show you the hidden treasures of Bali along the route. From your final destination,  we will provide transportation back to the hotel. For this 3-4 hours trek, an early departure is recommended.

Areas to choose from include Kastala to Tenganan; Tenganan to Bugbug; and Siig to Bukitcatu.

Price includes Transportation, Guide Fee, Entrance Fees and the refreshment of young coconut.

Snorkeling & Diving

This area of Bali has some incredible spots for snorkeling.

 Sail off at high tide on a Jukung, which is the local boat used in the area.

Your captain will take you to the corners of the sea where you can swim among the sea life and fishes.

 Snorkeling equipment can be provided. Scuba diving can also be an option.

Visiting Tirta Gangga & Taman Ujung

These two water palaces were built by the same king, Raja of Amlapura, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut and used it as one of his many weekend retreats.

These gardens and the pools are worth a visit. The gardens are full of flowers and decorated with statues, of which some represent Balinese demons and even pigs.

Visiting Tirta Gangga & Taman Ujung

At Tirta Gangga you can take a swim in one of the royal pools.  In the back of the garden there’s a big swimming pool and they have cabins where you can change.

This excursion may done at your own leisurely time and is an excellent experience  for those who desire to learn about the history of 19th century Karangasem, take photos and take a swim in the royal pools.
